Paving the Way to Victory

We’re honored to announce that Davis South Barnette & Patrick has been awarded a 2025 Reed Award for Best Online Video for a County, Local, or Judicial Campaign (Republican) for the 30-second digital ad “Roads,” created for Doug Harwell for Mobile County Commission.

This win marks a continued tradition of excellence for our political team, and we’re especially proud to have been finalists in three categories this year. The Reed Awards—presented annually by Campaigns & Elections—represent the highest standards in political campaign strategy and creative execution.

“Roads” tells the story of a man whose life’s work is quite literally paving the way for others.

The spot opens with a sense of nostalgia, tracing Doug Harwell’s roots back to his grandfather’s dirt roads—routes that once carried livestock and livelihoods. Now, Doug continues that legacy as a road builder and public servant, focused on connecting people, neighborhoods, and opportunity. In just 30 seconds, “Roads” elevates a straightforward idea into a powerful metaphor: roads as progress, roads as pathways to growth, and roads as symbols of a better Mobile County. With tight scripting, compelling visuals, and an authentic on-camera delivery from Doug, the spot makes a clear, emotional appeal to voters—without ever feeling forced.

None of this would have been possible without Mike Edwards and the incredible team at 5 Stones Group, whose production expertise brought our vision to life. And a special shoutout to Don Davis and the DSB&P Political Team, whose commitment to creative, data-driven messaging continues to produce award-winning results across the region.
